The shared education event aimed to teach pupils about sustainable growing methods and how to make their own 'No-Dig' planting beds.
Pupils attended from St Brigid's Primary School, Altamuskin; Cooley Primary School, Sixmilecross; St McCartan's Primary School, Clogher and Augher Central Primary School.
The children participated in several activities, including no-dig beds and sustainable growing, insect surveys, seed balls, wetlands/pond dipping, and paper potters growing peas.
No-dig beds make the soil healthier, give bugs a home, and allow vegetables to grow in our neighbourhood. Natural World Products supported this project by providing the seedlings and the New Leaf compost. The no-dig beds were chosen for a mix of pollinator-friendly flowers and healthy foods, including sunflowers, poppies, lettuce, spring onions, and kale. It has been a great collaboration between the two councils, and the results have been very rewarding.
