Family Allotments

Splash Sure Start

Splash Sure Start is a voluntary organisation funded by the Department of Education working with families in certain areas of Brownlow and Lurgan who have children aged from 0-4 years.

This project is to promote a healthy way of life for the families and to encourage them to do outdoor activities. This is for adults and children and separate and joint workshops are provided by Sharon to encourage growing our own fruit and vegetables. This is to give children more knowledge of where are fruit and vegetables come from and to encourage them to eat them as a result. It is also to promote outdoor activities such as gardening as beneficial to physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Keith Cullen, Community Support Worker said “we received a donation of New Leaf Compost to get our new allotment going and as beginners to growing we asked for some advice from the Community Outreach team at NWP.

The advice, support and workshops with Sharon have been fantastic and it is only with her expertise that we are able to run this Allotment Project for our Families”
